29THE LUMINOUS SOUL PIECE, IN THE SHADOWS, WAS INSPIRED BY THE LIGHT & SHADOW SCULPTURES OF JAPANESE ARTIST KUMI YAMASHITA AND THE POEM LUMINOUS SOUL BY JOHN MCGUCKIN. THE DANCERS WILL EXPLORE THEIR OWN SHADOWS AND HOW THINGS ARE NEVER QUITE WHAT THEY FIRST SEEM. IT IS CHOREOGRAPHED BY SHEENA KELLY WITH THE DANCERS, TO THE MUSIC OF PAPER TIGERS BY HELIOS.

LUMINOUS SOUL ARE CONTEMPORARY DANCERS WHO HAVE A DISABILITY.  OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS THEY HAVE MOVED FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH WORKING WITH SOME OF THE UK AND NORTHERN IRELAND’S FINEST CHOREOGRAPHERS.  THEIR PERFORMANCES HAVE BEEN HIGHLY PRAISED AND THEY HAVE BEEN FEATURED AT 2013 WORLD POLICE AND FIRE GAMES, 2012 PARALYMPIC FLAME FESTIVAL, AND THE MILK CUP NI WELCOMING CEREMONY. OPEN ARTS’ LUMINOUS SOUL IS A UNIQUE, CONTEMPORARY DANCE PROJECT THAT PROVIDES HIGH-QUALITY DANCE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT, ENABLING DISABLED PEOPLE TO BECOME PROFESSIONAL DANCERS.
